Breaking News! I'm Going On A Date!!

With The Husband, that is.

Our second date since C was born. Although I'm ashamed to admit it, I only have myself to blame. I could think of 1,000 excuses at any given moment as to why we couldn't or shouldn't leave C for the evening when the opportunity presented itself to us in the past.

Thankfully, my future sister-in-love and brother-in-law offered to watch the little man for us tonight as we venture out together to an enjoy an evening sans Parenting. Needless to say, this will be the first occasion that I leave C with anyone other than my parents and it speaks volumes about my love and trust for these two  as I get ready to leave my Crazy Wildebeest Toddler in their charge for the night.

Go ahead and laugh, but Loyals? This is a huge deal for this controlling, Type-A Mama.

Now, if you'll excuse me, I have a few lists I need to write... And several hundred Reminder Post-Its to stick throughout the house.

Just kidding about that last part, Loyals.. I'm not that crazy.

  1. Becareful. Dates with hubby can result in unplanned 2nd pregnancies! LOL

We've only had 2 dates (Presley is almost 1). Very few folks I let watch her. Besides the highly trained and well loved professionals I leave her with 3 days a week.

I can relate to type A and controlling mother style as well :-)

  2. So fun! We saw Captain America for our only date night since A was born- oh the romance :) Have a fabulous time! I'm trying to convince my husband to take me to Ketchup in DC for our date night of 2012

  3. AP, I am JUST like you! Believe me, if the hubby cae home with a couple of tickets to Hawaii I'd probably throw Carsyn to the nearest family member, but other wise? I make every excuse possible to take her with us. She's never spent the night away from me...bad momma, I know! I'm already major nervous about leaving her for blissdom. Well, sort of-I might take her with me because my mom wants to come. Go ahead and call me lame-I am.

Enjoy your night momma-you deserve it! :)

  6. My daughter is almost 14 months old and we've been out alone once since she was born, for our wedding anniversary. It's tough being a Mom. I always come up with an excuse at the last minute of why we shouldnt leave her or at least just take her with us.

    Have fun tonight!

  8. How exciting!! We are trying to pack in as many dates and movies as possible before our little one arrives next summer....I am a little too tired, however, so our "dates" usually consist of a McDonald's sundae and some reality TV. :)

I hope you have so much fun!!

  9. Enjoy!
We are going out tonight and since my oldest isn't going to my parents to spend the night, I had to bump back our dinner reservations until 8PM. Only my parents and my husbands parents have put the kids to bed and we usually have the babysitters come after the kids are already asleep. I feel like I need to have the sitter come during the day first and be with the kids before she puts them to bed too....just my weird thing!

  10. Wow! Have a great time. That's such a long time to go without a hubby date! I hope every single second of it is enjoyable!

  11. Have fun! We have had very few date nights ourselves...definitely less than 5. Might be like 2. One was to the back to school night at daycare and since we had a sitter, we grabbed a quick bite to eat...and called it a date! Sadly, life gets in the way...our work skeds are not conducive for dates...and when you are so tired at the end of the week, well, to me, sitting on the couch to watch a few TV shows is a date nowadays! Have a blast!!!

  12. I had a really hard time leaving E with anyone other than our moms or E's aunt for a long, long time ... but I've slowly started to let go of it. And it's great! Also, it can be addicting. He'll be wonderful for the babysitter so you'll be like, "Let's do this again tomorrow, and the next day, and the next day!"

    Have fun tonight. Go crazy.

  13. Have fun! We're bad about dates too. I'll admit sometimes I just don't want to leave her and it's fun to just be home the three of us. BUT they ARE necessary, so enjoy!

  16. So fun! I have to say I am impressed that you still have your sanity!!! We leave Thatcher with a baby-sitter fairly often (once a month maybe?) and it's the only way I stay sane! I am totally picky and controlling, too, but that's why I like high quality paid baby-sitters...they have to follow your rules (if they are trustworthy anyway!) I trust our baby-sitter more than my MIL. For reals.

  18. LOL, have fun!! It took us awhile but now we go on 'dates' whenever we can. Taking baby breaks makes me a better mom I think.
