You see, I have this road. A favorite road. For as long as I can remember, or at least ever since I was gifted with the limitless freedom that is my driver's license, this half-mile slice of asphalt has been my kind of heaven. It's not a long stretch of road by any means, but it's half-mile length is the perfect blend of twists and curves, flanked by the loveliest of trees.
When the stars align, the sunlight streams through the thick, lush canopy of greens and reds and my favorite song happens to begin playing on the radio. There isn't a car in front of or behind me for as far as the eye can see and for the next half-mile, this road is mine. So what do I do? I turn up the stereo, press down a little bit further on that gas pedal and smile.
It's in those moments that I'm reminded how much I love. And how I'm so close to coming home.
Happy Thursday, Loyals...
I love driving on roads like that! Especially when no one is around.. I have bad road rage, and do much better when other peoples speed isnt determining mine! :)
ReplyDeleteThat's awesome. There was a road on Kauai kinda like that. I remember thinking it was so cool. I think it was called Tree Tunnel Road. One of my favorite memories from our honeymoon!
ReplyDeleteAww yay! I love this post :)
ReplyDeleteThat's beautiful. Everyone should have a place like that.
ReplyDeleteKassie's right, everyone should have a place like that. I will seek out my refuge.

ReplyDeleteI have a road like that too! The kind of road that makes you want to roll your windows down and breathe it all in. Ahhhh. I miss it!

Just lovely!
ReplyDeleteLove that - when it's "your" road and you can blast your classic rock as loud as you want.
