Disneyland. And Not The One You're Thinking About Right Now.

Over the weekend, while on a quest for a new dining set for our outdoor living space, The Husband, The Baby and myself piled into the car and headed here:

As The Husband was unbuckling The Baby from his carseat, I overheard him ask, "Are you ready to go to Disneyland, Big Man? And I couldn't help but laugh out loud for the following two reasons:

1. Home Depot really is the grown man's Disneyland. Afterall, there are rides to ride on (tractors, ladders, those flatbed carts for large ticket items), things to play with (tools, tools and more tools) as well as snacks to munch on (hello, hot dog stand) all without the hassle of waiting in ridiculous lines. Oh and did I mention there's no park fee required to visit? If I were to ask The Husband right now, he'd probably say that Home Depot is even better than Disneyland.

2. How freaking funny would it be if we raised Carter to think that the place with the orange letters really IS Disneyland? He'd be starting off kindergarten telling all the kids, "I go to Disneyland EVERY weekend!" That alone just cracks me up and makes me actually contemplate misleading the poor little guy. Okay, fine. We wouldn't really do that to him, but you have to admit, it's pretty darn hilarious.

Oh, and for those of you who are wondering whether or not we found a new dining set, we did! And a new shovel, some patch seed, a little weed killer, a new filter for... something, not to mention a ceiling fan for The Baby's room and some brand spankin' new shelves. Maybe I'll even get around to posting a "nursery reveal!" You know, before his 1st birthday. Don't get your hopes up.

And just for kicks, here's a picture of our brand new dining set and the pretty little outdoor rug I found to compliment it. Pictures are courtesy of Home Depot.

Happy Monday, Loyals!

  1. This makes me laugh a lot! I don't get the attraction of home depot - the mister likes it, but I avoid it like the plague. It really must be a guy thing.

  2. LOL That's awesome! You could also put him in one of those little carts with the car seat and steering wheel and tell him it's the matterhorn ride. ;0)
PS love love love the dining set

  3. Home Depot is the male equivalent of Target. Whenever Alex goes for "just a few things" he comes home with tons of stuff! And, I don't think men can get out of Home Depot for under $100 - again just like Target!

Glad you found furniture - I love it!!

  4. I totally agree with Lindsey! Even though I don't have target where I live (not till 2013!) when I visit the US I go nuts in target :) and I can go in the next day, spend the same amount of time and still come out with goodies! yay for target.

  5. Ha! We were at Lowe's this weekend and Hubs got Kitty out of her carseat and handed all 20 pounds of her to me saying, "You can just carry her - we'll only be in here for a minute."

Yeah. Freakin'. Right. I opted to put her in the stroller anyway. 45 minutes later, I just smiled sweetly at him instead of saying "I told you so" :)

  6. My husband made exactly four trips to Lowe's on Saturday for the patio project he was working on. It took four trips to get all the stone we needed. The staff knew him by name and even gave him his own palette for hauling the stone home and coming back for more.

And then we went back yesterday.

And he's there again right now.

  9. Used to have one student who was in kindergarten, swearing up and down she went to disney world every damned weekend. After reading this, I wonder if her parents were smart and taught her that Target=Disney World or something. Because if so?? GENIUS.

  14. How funny! :) I definitely need some new patio duds (considering that there's nothing out there but pine needles right now) and might have to go to "Disneyland" now!

  15. LOL. So true.
Date nights for us usually include a trip to Lowes. And while the hubs is walking around, contemplating his next project, my little guy (20 months) LOVES to jog up and down the aisles, play with the automatic doors, and ride in the shopping cart that looks like a car.

  16. Oh man... this makes me laugh! I love it.

Just a couple of days ago, my aunt and I drove by The Container Store, and I told her that it's like Disney World for organizers. I love being organized and putting things away at home, so the Container Store is definitely like my Disney.

What's your Disneyland?! Hopefully you get a chance to get your fix too. ;)

  18. Haha! I love it!

When parents took me ages and ages ago, they said all I talked about was wanting a Tshirt.. My dad says he looked at my mom and said we could buy a Tshirt and turn around and save a ton of money! Ha! So maybe Carter will never know!

The new set looks awesome and I really love the rug! :)
