Gimmie Gimmies. House Decor Edition.

We all get the Gimmie Gimmies from time to time. It seems to be a disease that I am quite often afflicted with. And the tighter the budget? The worse the disease. Why, oh why, is that always the case? Please tell me there is a cure. And that it doesn't involve winning the lottery. Frankly, I can't afford to be spending money on lotto tickets!

Rather than continue to scribble design names and websites all over hundreds of yellow sticky notes, I thought I'd share with you all what I'm currently jonesing for. After all, Husband already forced me to enter my decor desires into an Excel spreadsheet so that we could soothe The Gimmie Gimmies and budget for them over the next few months. Husbands.

First up? I need this rug for our family room. No, really. I need it. Carter needs it. It's an absolute necessity. Our family room is full of neutrals. Linen flowing curtains and muted tans. Accented with rustic black shelving, picture frames and subtle hints of a pastel-like blue hued accessories throughout. This, dear friends? Is perfection in a rug. Somebody write me a prescription for it, stat!

Moving on up to our master bedroom. I've been on a serious hunt for some inexpensive drapes lately. At first I thought I would try my hand at No-Sew curtains, but let's be honest- I've been attempting to make our custom headboard since oh, May of 2010 and we all know how successful that's been. Considering I don't have a custom headboard to show for all of my non efforts. Regardless, it's about time that I quit giving our neighbors a sexy silhouette show every time I disrobe behind our blinds. As soon as we're back in Maryland, Carter will be ordering these pronto. I love me some.. Cindy Crawford? Hey, at least she doesn't have a fragrance, like every other washed up celebrity out there. Or wait.. does she? JCPenny, please gimmie gimmie these Dubai Damask drapes, please!

Swing on back down to the living room, shall we? Despite the flagrant need for semi-formal drapes and a cornice, the leather couch and over-sized chair in this room have told me time and time again that they're a bit lonely. The oriental rug is no longer cutting it for them. I'm fairly certain they would love for me to bring them home some friends. Specifically one of these beauties:

And last but not least, the basement called. He said he's not too sure he's ready to be a Man Cave. In fact, he suggested I purchase some accents for him of the animal print variety. Don't you think these lovelies would accent his subtle grey walls divinely? I do. Husband, take note. What the basement wants, the basement gets.

I've got a fever and the only prescription is.. some new home decor. Sigh.

  3. I'm terrified of this. The gimmie, gimmies that is. My budget will be greatly reduced too in a few short months, so I'm trying not to really, really cut back!

Although it sucks, the spreadsheet and spreading the purchases out is a really smart idea.

I think winning the lottery is also a really, really good idea. ;)

  5. I also have the headboard idea on my list of things to do/make. It's been on my list for a couple of years. One of these days we'll get around to it.
