In my v-log earlier this week, I hinted at hoping against all hope that The Husband would be able to take a half day at work on Thursday so that we could take Carter on his maiden trip to the Maryland Zoo.
You know, because after all he only has 13-ish more weeks to revel in Being An Only Child and I'm this.close to buying him a pony for it.
If you happen to follow me on Twitter or Facebook then you know that's exactly where we spent a few hours together yesterday as a happy little family of 3.5. In the eighty-degree March weather.
I don't need to tell you that it was one of the best days of our 2012 yet. I'll let a few pictures do the talking, yes?
First up, the rhinos, zebra and ostriches. Sadly, C was not nearly as excited as both The Husband and I were- he was too busy trying to catch the attention of the The Toddler Girl running amok up and down the walkways of Africa.
For those of you who are curious, C's shortall comes from the fabulous folks at Just Ducky. You may remember the post I wrote about them here. His sandals are from Walmart (a whopping $10 thankyouverymuch) and his hat was a recent gift from Gammie and Poppy upon their return from Puerto Rico.
Next we moseyed on over to the gazelles where C's interest was also barely peaked. It's here where I need to admit shock and defeat at just how awesome C behaved outside of his stroller. His hand-holding capabilities just blew my mind. Had you asked me to bet his college savings on whether or not we could "let him loose" in the zoo, I'd have gladly bet the $85 on him requiring duct tape and strict confinement to the stroller. Silly, Mommy.
Needless to say I have a feeling we'll be making plenty a trip to the local pet store so that he can ooh and aah over a much less expensive (read: FREE) aquarium.
Awww, he is the cutest! I am so glad that you guys were able to enjoy the beautiful weather at the zoo. We can't wait to take S to the zoo this summer!
ReplyDeleteHow fun!! We're going to the zoo next Monday and I'm way more excited than my two-year old. Hopefully, things will change when we get there ;)
ReplyDeleteI am soooo glad you guys got to do this!! Looks like you had a blast and I am so jealous that you had 80 degree weather yesterday- up here it was a mere 49 :( boo! I can't get over how big C is getting!! He is a little man for sure!! Xo
ReplyDeleteAwwww so cute! These pictures are so adorable, and the penguins are my favorite too@ I have many fond memories at that zoo as a kid...I recognized it as soon as I saw the big (somewhat scary) lion. :) I think that definitely look like the best days of 2012 so far!
ReplyDeleteLooks like the M family had the best day at the zoo!!! C looked so adorable in his jon jon and hat! I think Mr. AP might be making up for killing McLane, I mean home early and a half day!
ReplyDeleteWe are headed to the zoo tomorrow for the DINO exhibit....I think H might die from excitement :)
How fun! We love that zoo and last year it came up on Groupon a few times so keep an eye out for that :) we are also headed to the DC zoo in a few weeks; we took Lily last year and she liked it as much as any 7 month old... so excited to see her there this year because she looooves animals now!
ReplyDeleteI'm so glad y'all had a fun day! Yay!!!! Looks like the zoo was a hit for everyone! I think I'm going to take E on Monday, I took off since it's the day after his birthday...any excuse off work is a good one for me! ;) Great pictures! He's an angel!!!!!
ReplyDeleteZoo days are the best! We love our zoo too! They make for the most amazing family days! Glad you guys are soaking it up :)
ReplyDeleteGAH! Stop, you're making me want a child! So cute, glad you guys had a great day.
ReplyDeleteShe looks adorable and what a fun way to spend a beautiful day! :)
ReplyDeleteHow fun! So glad The Husband got to take work off to go with! :)
ReplyDeleteSo precious! We took B to the zoo at 6 months where he just stared at everything. Haha so we are due for another zoo trip soon!
ReplyDeleteso cute. looks like you guys had a good time. I'm wanting to take the girls to the zoo soon when our nice weather decides to come back. I love his face in that last picture...LOL
ReplyDeleteWe took C to the zoo recently too. Of course he loved the freaking squirrels stealing food. He loved petsmart birds, fish, dogs!
ReplyDeleteAww he looks like such a little tourist! So adorable, I'm jealous of your nice weather. Can't wait to take Braden to the zoo this year, he'll enjoy it so much more than last year!
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful family day! C is adorable!
ReplyDeleteWe're planning a trip to the National Zoo within the next few weeks. I cannot wait to see how much Cecilia's reaction to it has changed since last year.

ReplyDeleteMy twin BOYS love the Baltimore Zoo. We have a membership so we go a lot. At our first trip last year, they were around 15 months and one of them cried the ENTIRE time and by the end of the summer/fall, we were going at least once a week because they were so excited to see the animals. Looking forward to our weekly visits starting again now that the weather is nice!
ReplyDeleteLooks like so much fun. I can't wait to get our butts to the zoo. Definitely going before baby 2 arrives. We went last year but it was late July (SO BLOODY HOT) so the animals weren't moving much. Plus, E was only 10.5 months old so she wasn't as interested in animals as she is now. I'm going early in the year so it's cool-ish and the animals will be moving. I hope Evalyn is as excited as I am.
ReplyDeleteOk, THANK YOU for posting those pictures and for saying where the shoes are from. I have been saying for weeks that Ryan needs little brown sandals that can be dressy OR casual, and that is exactly what I pictured and I couldn't find them anywhere!
ReplyDeleteAlso, the zoo looked super fun. ;)
Update: I totally just ordered them online. :-D
ReplyDeleteBeautiful photos! We zooed today in NC. Two moms, two 19month olds, two jogging strollers- the kids wanted to sit in one stroller together the whole time of course.
ReplyDeleteSo much fun!! We have a standing "zoo date" for when the hubs is done with busy season (accountant). I cannot wait! K is obsessed with animals, so this mama has high hopes. C is so adorable, as always. Oh and if C & K pool their college savings together, they have a whopping $120! Eeek, that will hopefully increase once all the babies have come and mama has to get ready everyday again. Boo to that :)
ReplyDeleteAnyways, SO glad you had a fabulous day!!
My husband bought sawyer a pet fish this week while I was away. I can't wait to get home and ask sawyer to show me his fish. Our boys are growing up so fast!
ReplyDeleteWas it spring break there? We attempted the zoo this week, however since it was spring break we drove right on by after seeing 100-200 people in line to get in.
ReplyDeleteSo glad I caught up on your blog today....we're heading to the Bmore Zoo on Wednesday, haven't been since I was a teen and wasn't sure if it was still good! Went to the national zoo once, and wasn't a big fan- make sure to post how that one goes too!!
ReplyDeleteso stinkin' adorable! We took P to the Zoo for the first time in Florida , but she is still too young to appreciate it.
