Drum Roll Please... It's A...

Boy!

Another beautiful, precious, sweet bundle of blue will be completing out family this Spring and we couldn't be more thrilled. With full, gracious hearts we watched our son kick, wave and roll as the technician moved the wand over my belly.

Since this will likely be our last pregnancy, it was fifteen minutes that I will savor for the rest of my life. The anxiety, the anticipation. Watching my husband stare in sheer awe at another beautiful little life that we created. It's just so amazing.

We are so excited and as we walked out of the ultrasound boutique and another couple waiting to be seen exclaimed, "Well, now you'll have to have four so you can get that girl!" I just laughed.

I laughed because I can only hope that one day she will feel the sense of peace, completion and blessedness that I do, with a house full of little boys.

Over dinner we laughed at how much louder, crazier and chaotic our house will become. We dreamt of grocery bills and carloads full of sports equipment and perhaps converting our basement into a wrestling ring with padded floors.

And all the while I kept singing in my head, "And they're the three best friends that anyone could have..."

Well, what's next you ask? Let the naming wars begin!

  2. Congrats! I might change my mind, but right now, I would be content with only having boys. I don't know what it is. I just never pictured myself with a girl. But then again, as long as my kid is happy and healthy they can be any gender! At least now you don't have to buy a whole new wardrobe!

  3. It's so frustrating that people think having one gender or another leaves a parent disappointed. A house full of boys sounds like a dream come true to me! And so does a house full of both boys and girls. :) Congratulations on your baseball team!

  8. This post almost made me cry!

"I laughed because I can only hope that one day she will feel the sense of peace, completion and blessedness that I do, with a house full of little boys."

I have 2 boys and we want one more. I think we will have another boy and I think people will pity me for it. But I LOVE being a boy mom!

  9. How sweet! Love it, congratulations! We are in the opposite boat with the "You'll just have to try again for a boy" comments. My thoughts to this are, we are perfectly content with what we were given. A house full of beautiful rambunctious children is a blessing, regardless of their gender. I cannot wait to follow along the rest of your journey welcoming M3 into your family. Carter and Maclane will be the BEST big brothers ever! (p.s. still curious if the dr at week 10 was correct) my doctor guessed at week 11 and was most definately incorrect ;)

  11. As a mom of four boys, I love love love a house full of sons. I'm sure I would have loved a house full of daughters too, or a mix, but I never understand why people insist on publicly declaring their sadness for me that I only have boys. My boys are fantastic and I wouldn't trade them for anything. Boy moms FTW!

  12. I love your attitude about all boys. I knew a woman who, upon finding out her 3rd would be yet another boy, cried and moped around for days. I mean, really?? And likewise, I know families with all girls and people always say "oh that poor dad." WHAT? All boys, all girls, a couple of each, it doesn't matter. I can't wait to have our second son and IF we go for #3 and it's a boy? GREAT!! If not? That's great too. It really doesn't matter. So happy for you and your growing family!

  13. So extremely happy for you mama!! I know before we found out the sex of #4, I was worried about grocery bills with 3 boys in the house, lol! I totally get that! Can't wait to hear the name of yet another beautiful baby M!

  15. Congrats AP! A house full of three best friends so quite simply wonderful! Cannot wait to see how the name game plays out :)

  16. Congrats, AP! You got this!!! My mother-in-law raised three boys and she tells the funniest stories about when my husband and his brothers were little. Sounds like a challenge, yet something so rewarding. Boy moms are super special in my eyes!

  19. What is the song you are singing to yourself, or is it just something you made up? Weird question, probably, but as a mom of three boys, I have to know. My (surprise) #3 is sleeping in the Rock n Play next to me (if you don't have one, GET ONE!) I have a 5.5, a 2, and a 7 week old. Looking forward to reading your blog for years to come. Oh, and the only appropriate answer for those "Next time a girl" people is, "You know, the only bad thing about having 3 boys is that I just don't think I'll ever be able to watch 'Saving Private Ryan' again." Yes...kind of a weird retort, but it shuts 'em up. :)

  20. Congratulations, lady! We're up in the air about whether or not there will be a third baby (we've got to see how we deal with two little boys!), but I'd be totally content with three boys too. Being a boy mom is pretty freaking awesome!

  21. Yay! Congratulations! People tell me all the time too, "are you going to try for a boy?" and the answer is a resounding NO. If we did that, we'd probably end up with 16 girls before a boy rolled around. Four kids is more than enough for me, regardless of the fact that they're all girls. Plus, I enjoy the benefits of saving money by not having to buy a whole new set of EVERYTHING in boy theme! Yay money!

  22. My aunt and uncle had three boys and their house was the jolliest, happiest place to be. In fact, we still go there all the time - are heading there for Thanksgiving, in fact. Even though the boys are grown (in their 20's), they still pop over to see their mom all the time. It's so sweet! My husband and I have one little boy and would love to have at least one more!:)

  23. Congrats! I also only have boys and I just can't stand the comments anymore from people asking if I want a girl.

  24. AP - I've never commented but recently had the same thoughts. We have a 2.5 year old boy, and are expecting twin boys in January. Like you, this is most likely my last pregnancy, and I've been floored with the comments about "just one more" and "i'm so sorry you didn't get a girl". I am THRILLED to be having 3 boys, and cannot imagine life any other way. Congrats on M3!

  25. Love this post! Your house will be total chaos and complete love. And think about how you'll get to dance at their weddings THREE times to the mother/son song:) And if you need a girl fix just pop over my house as the girls get ready for the IHA prom;-)

  26. Congrats!!! It really does bother me when people find out I'm having my second boy and they say things like "Well, you can always try for a third!" Um, hello, I'm ecstatic to be having another boy! Having one already makes me know how amazing little boys are and how much excitement they bring to your life! Not to mention I'm a sucker for my momma's boy!
I'm so happy for you and can't wait to see who this boy will look like!

  27. So super excited for you guys. Carter and Maclane are going to be the best big brothers to that little guy!!!! He's going to be so lucky to have such a wonderful loving family such as ya'll. I don't even know you guys, but I feel like I do just by following along with your IG pics and blogs and such. You guys are awesome, and you deserve the perfect family, and by golly, I think you've got it :-)

  31. I've been a long time reader but rarely comment. As a boy mom to my 2 little boys I couldn't have stated it better myself. My heart is so full as a boy mom and people constantly asking if we're going to try for a girl drives me crazy. I'm beyond words in love with my boys and couldn't imagine my life without them. Why must people think I'm missing something I don't understand. Huge congrats to the M family! What a lucky little boy to be joining all of you! I've been a long time reader but rarely comment. 32. Congrats on another little boy!! Since I have twin girls I always get the old "well hopefully the next one will be a boy!" Little so they realize I would be just as happy with another little girl in the bunch! :) can't wait to hear what name you choose!

  33. I'm so excited for you! Three boys was my dream as a young girl...which as we know, isn't happening...but SO excited for you to have 3! You will always be their first love. And what a privilege to know you can raise them to be gentlemen who treat the girls with respect and class! You'll do a fine job! LOVE YA!

  34. So incredibly happy for you! Cannot wait to "meet" the next handsome M boy! Boys are so much fun. :)

  35. I couldn't adore my son more and I am excited for brothers for him. But today I was watching this awful reality show Jesse and Eric and Jesse and her sister were talking about penises. I guess Jesse sent her mom a picture of Eric's penis to see if it was big or small. The moment just made me laugh and strangely want daughters and sisters. Now I've decided I'm adopting girls lol

  37. So so exciting! Girl or boy, this little baby was sure to be loved. But oh how cute it will be to see all three boys together! Carter seems like such a great big brother - and now it's Mac's turn! Love!!! xo

  38. SO excited for you guys!!! I was watching your IG yesterday!! :) we have a girl and now with this pregnancy everyone keeps saying "I'll pray for a boy for you" and I always respond "if you plan to pray please pray for a healthy baby not a boy." I know people mean well but when you are a mom you don't care the gender! I can't wait for another baby to love and to give Olivia the gift of a sibling! You do make beautiful boys! I'm sure this one will be no different!! :)

  39. Congratulations on this new addition to your family AP. How exciting. You look amazing by the way, that picture of you in that purple shirt at 15 weeks, beautiful.

I have been a long time reader but never really commented and as we found out a few months ago that we are also welcoming our 3rd boy, I clearly had to say something :).

Our lives have been so parallel it's insane. My first boy and Carter are a few weeks apart, my second boy and McClane are 2 months apart, and our third boys are going to be about 2 months apart. I tell you, parallel lives (and we also live in the DMV).

I had an encounter with a crazy lady a few months back about having a 3rd boy that left me speechless.
    http://pvtfamily.blogspot.com/2013/10/rejoice-with-us.html.

People just don't get that a baby is a baby regardless of the gender. Anyway, let's rejoice in this new healthy pregnancy, can't wait to hear what name you pick
