Last week we celebrated Sheepie's 4th birthday. In years past, we've treated the big guy to a frosted {human} donut from the local bakery but that was before he was privy to hoards of table food cast awry by the toddler.
This year, it's no secret that Sullivan needs to shed a few pounds. I still wanted to "treat" him on his special day but figured he could do without the processed sugar.
Needless to say, Sheepie absolutely LOVED these frozen homemade treats and they were SO incredibly easy to make. Not to mention that the ingredients also make a delicious {human} treat as well!
What I Used:
16 ounces Greek Yogurt (Plain or Vanilla)
1/2 cup natural peanut butter
1 tbsp organic natural honey, give or take
1/3 cup old fashioned oats
What I did:
Dump all ingredients into your food processor.
Pulse until smooth and creamy.
Pour into ice cube trays or silicone baking mold.
(I had a heart-shaped mold from Valentine's baking last year)
Freeze for at least 1 hour before serving.
There's my sweet boy waiting patiently for his "yum-yums."
And in just one hour, somebody was ready to enjoy his delicious birthday treat.
"Mom. Seriously? Just let me eat it."
If Sheepie had thumbs, I think it's safe to say he would give this "dessert" two thumbs up!
Just look at that smile...
I LOVE that his eyes just peek out of his "bangs". He is so cute. I was telling my husband - IF we get another dog I want a sheepdog ... He said what do you mean IF, we have THREE dogs, I am sure there will be another addition at some point :)
ReplyDeleteHow great! I have bought the frosty paws, but how easy is this!! I will have to try. Thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeletehe is so cute. I haven't dared make my dog any food but he's content eating everything that the baby throws on the floor for him
ReplyDeleteLove this post!! So cute how he's waiting for the treats. What a sweetie.
ReplyDeleteOh Sheepie! I love that, even after baby #2, you haven't neglected Sheepie. Hehe! I try to include Klay-Klay {our boxer} in things that we do...trips to the park, walks, bike rides. I must say I have never baked her something special like this! You are such a sweet momma!
ReplyDeleteWhat a great doggie mama you are. :) I made those for our pups a couple of weeks ago (way too many of them), and they were much enjoyed. Sure beats those ones in the freezer section that are $5 for 4 little containers, huh?
ReplyDeleteOh that post seriously made me smile. I love his sweet puppy smile! Happy 4th Birthday Sullivan!
ReplyDeleteThis is awesome! Cruz will love these! Happy Birthday Sheepie!!
ReplyDeleteAwww! Definitely trying this for my four heathen dogs! Sheepie is so cute!
ReplyDeleteOh Sheepie....he is so cute! I need to treat my girls to these :)
ReplyDeleteI am going to def. try this for Mia. :)
ReplyDeleteSheepie!!! So dang cute. And I'm pretty sure my dogs are going to love you after I make these for them this weekend!
ReplyDeleteOh I can't wait to try this!! I've always wanted to make homemade dog treats for the dogs, but my lazy ass finds it easier to run to Petco and buy them. Not anymore. I have ALL those ingredients! Trying it this weekend!
ReplyDeleteThanks, AP! ;)
