Striped Delight :: An M Family Favorite since 1985

Ever since I can remember, Striped Delight has been a staple at every single M Family 4th of July celebration. Such a staple, in fact, that I do believe the holiday would be no holiday at all without the delicious COOL WHIP Whipped Topping making everyday treats that much more special for my family.

The delectable cookie crumble crust, so sweet and melt-in-your-mouth, topped with that yummy confectioner concoction of chilled pudding, COOL WHIP and cream cheese. The kind of chilly, airy dessert that is downright summer-y and delicious.

If you ask me, that is precisely what summer tastes like. Or at least, every single one of my childhood summers, growing up in Northern New Jersey. When I think of Striped Delight, I can almost feel the fresh cut lawn tickling the backs of my legs as I sat with my cousins in our Nanny's backyard, waiting for my Dad's infamous firework display.

Although we've barely stumbled into Spring and I'm hurtling towards my 29th birthday, my third birthday celebrated as a Mom, I cannot help but think about a summer full of fireworks and fun, lazy days in the kiddie pool with my boy(s) and most importantly, delicious barefoot dinners out on the deck, followed very closely by a generous spoonful of Striped Delight

The prep time for this dessert is roughly 20 minutes. Plan to spend more time putting this dessert together if you cannot help yourself from eating an Oreo (or seven).

You'll want to let this tasty COOL WHIP creation refrigerate for four hours before serving to plan accordingly. Many times, I've even been known to make it the night before the family gathering.

What You'll Need:

1 package Oreo cookies
6 tbsp. melted butter
1 8oz. package of cream cheese (I've always used Philadelphia Neufchatel)
3 1/4c cold milk
2 tbsp. cold milk
1 tub COOL WHIP Whipped Topping, thawed (I always keep an extra tub on hand, if I'm feeling generous).
2 pkg. Chocolate JELL-O Instant pudding (3.9oz)
1/4c sugar

What You'll Do:

1. I've always crushed my Oreos in a giant zip-lock bag with a rolling pin. Although tedious, it's much easier than busting out my hulking food processor. If you wish for this process to go much quicker, toss your cookies into a food processor and crush into fine crumbs.

2. Mix in butter and press into the bottom of a 9x13inch baking pan. Refrigerate until ready to use.

3. Combine in medium mixing bowl cream cheese, sugar and 2 tbsp. milk. Whisk until blended well. Stir in 1 1/4 cups of COOL WHIP. Spread over crust.

4. Whisk pudding mixes and 3 1/4c milk for two minutes until slightly thickened. Pour over cream cheese layer and let sit until thick.

5. Cover with remaining COOL WHIP and refrigerate for 4 hours.

Once fully set, slice your Striped Delight and share with family and friends.
